Running Day 2007 |

The 2007 Running Day celebrated 100 Years of Motorbus Service in Liverpool, 100 years since the Woolton Omnibus first ran. It also celbrated 50 years since the last tram ran in Liverpool (almost ot the week - the last tram ran on 14th September 1957 - which also coincidentally means that A267 is 50 years old) and 110 years since the first tram ran in 1897. It was also 800 years since the Charter of Liverpool was signed.
2007's event was kindly sponsored by Royal Bank of Scotland, and our open topper was accordingly decked out in banners. The North West Museum of Road Transport once again sent 2 visiting buses, Crosville DVL435 and London Titan T910 which were both on display at LSP. The Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust sent Ribble National 831 which they used on the A57 service up to Netherton. A rather surprise visitor was Stagecoach Merseyside B10M 20744, which has been painted into Liverpool Corporation colours and lettered up for 100 years of motorbuses. Arriva also gave us the use of a new B7, 4108. However, the most travelled visiting vehicle was ex-London MTL Titan 2122 which Andy Barnes brought up from Kent. Thanks must be given to all visiting vehicles.
The routes for 2007 were generally the same as the 2006 event but this year Merseytravel kindly let us use Liverpool South Parkway Station as a terminus, which turned out to be a god send as Pier Head was in the middle of the a building site and roadworks! The 4/5 ran to from Mann Island to Woolton via Penny Lane, then changed into a 66B and ran down to LSP. The 33 and 80 also ran from Mann Island to LSP.
