If you pay Income Tax and/or Capital gains Tax you can increase the value of your donations to the MTT by signing the Gift Aid declaration below. This will be reclaimed from the Inland Revenue by the Merseyside Transport Trust as a Registered Charity.

Please read the following ‘Giving to the MTT’ which details other ways you can help the MTT in its restoration projects and explains how you donations to the MTT including your subscription and donations can be increased at no cost to yourselves through the ‘Gift Aid scheme’

GIVING TO THE MTT

The MTT exists solely off voluntary contributions to fund its vehicle preservation, restoration and upkeep of its precious transport gems. There are a number of ways you can contribute towards the funds required:-

1) One off donations.

2) Standing Orders.

Giving a regular monthly donation to the MTT allows us to build up funds and plan future restoration projects. Many members fully sponsor a vehicle’s rent which currently costs £40 per month.

However, the Trustees fully understand that some members would find this amount difficult each month, so following several member’s enquiries for details to part sponsor a Trust vehicle’s rent and/or restoration, we have introduced a new sponsorship form which allows for amounts of £5 upwards to be made each month by standing order.

Gift Aid – How does it help the MTT?

If you pay Income Tax and/or Capital gains tax you can increase the value of your subscriptions & donation by signing the attached Gift Aid declaration.

This will be reclaimed from the Inland Revenue by the Merseyside Transport Trust as a Registered Charity.

Please notify the Trust of any change of name or address

• You may cancel the declaration at any time by notifying the MTT.
• You must pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the amount of tax that the Trust reclaims on your subscription and donation in the tax year (currently 28p for every £1 given).
• If in the future your circumstances change and you no longer pay tax on your income and capital gains equal to the tax which the Trust reclaims, you should cancel your declaration.
• If you pay tax at the higher rate you can claim further tax relief on your Self Assessment form.
• If you are unsure whether your subscription and donations qualify for Gift Aid relief, ask the Trust or pick up leaflet ‘IR113 Gift Aid’ from your local tax office.
